Was this episode aired as was intended?

It was quite a different style for Corrie focussing on Geoff and Yasmeen in practically every scene with events moving on immediately in consecutive scenes.

I wasn't sure if it was aired as intended or whether it was cut together into a single episode as the storyline was meant to play out over a double episode?

It was certainly effective this way but unusual for Corrie.

It certainly felt to me as if there were supposed to have been other scenes in there, especially when it jumped from breakfast time to lunchtime in Yasmeen’s house, which confused me a bit at first.

I’d wondered if it was originally supposed to have been an hour long episode. There were plenty of people on the end credits who weren’t in it, but it didn’t feel like it would have been the second half of a double episode, which would otherwise have explained that.

It has felt to me for a few weeks now that there’s been an odd flow to the programme with some storylines appearing from nowhere and then disappearing as quickly, such as Oliver collapsing. Given it’s shot out of sequence, I wonder if certain scenes we should have been seeing haven’t been recorded yet, so they’re having to re-jig the order of everything.

I noticed recently the lad who recorded the video call with Asha was complaining about the woman serving in the kebab shop who didn’t know what she was doing, which I’m guessing was meant to be a reference to Bernie, although she didn’t start working in there until later in the episode.

I don't think they've edited it in any way, they have been doing different things for special episodes for a while. The fact it jumped from breakfast to lunchtime was to highlight how Geoff was still serving up his cold cooked breakfast.

Regarding the credits, each single episode is using the credits that would have appeared in the end of each double episode, so there is always people who didn't appear but will do either in the previous one or in the next one

Last night's episode was what was meant to be the 7:30 episode on Easter Monday 13th April

I think it was aired as intended. I don't think they would edit two episodes into one as they are trying to stretch the episodes out as long aa possible.

The end credits had Faye, Ryan and others credited so they obviously appear on Mondays episode. I believe these episodes were due to air on Easter Monday. Maybe it would have been a proper 1 hour or the usual 7.30pm/8.30pm double. We may never know. Excellent episode, both actors were amazing, even if some scenes were difficult viewing. I did like the fact they concentrated on the one storyline. We don't get enough of that when there is a major storyline playing out. It also works well having these double episodes spread out over a few days.

Yes, soaps so often like to mix a bit of light and dark in which sometimes work but often doesn't if they don't get it right. One other thing I like about this is it features two older characters when most of the big storylines usually concentrate on the younger cast.

Looks like Classic Corrie and Emmerdale will be added to the ITV Hub from tomorrow, with more classic episodes on BritBox from the 14th.

Classic Corrie and Emmerdale on the Hub will be excellent, I rarely get to watch them when they're on telly.

I’m glad they’re adding more to BritBox, they’ve got a number of high profile episodes already, such as the Rovers fire from 1986, but there are so many more they can add.

It's now clear that Friday's episode wasn't re-edited. The episode that just finished was also entirely about Yasmeen and Geoff.

I shouldn't have laughed in the middle of an incredibly serious and dark episode, but yasmeen having the Top Cat theme as her ringtone...

It was Geoff’s phone as it had texts from Faye on it. Yasmeen’s phone had of course been locked away along with her laptop.

One downside of the reduced number of episodes is that the truth won’t come out and the street will turn against her for about 3 weeks!

Something that crossed my mind about the soaps possibly going off air if they cant return to film in time for new episodes to make it to air, what are the tv guides like What's on TV going to put on the cover if the soaps are off air! Maybe they will have to resort to putting the Aussie soaps on the cover like they (and Inside Soap) did many years ago when the Aussie soaps was as popular as the UK soaps (more popular than Emmerdale was at the time certainly). .

Not a big issue given the current pandemic, but something they will have to consider. Or maybe they will finally have to put something other than a soap on the cover. Surprised
