The voiceover sounds too good to be computer generated. I guess the AI translation may be a starting point for a human to fix before recording?

Sky News now has a Spanish YouTube channel (it's linked from their main one so seems legit) with AI translations from a firm called Papercup

You mean like the BBC did four and a half years ago

And are still doing now .......

No, the voice is computer generated - though a native speaker performs a "quality check".

And Quality checks are needed ...
Going back a few years ago ..
. text to text translation of a specification of the new Broadcast centre for the Catalan broadcaster CART ..
Required in the playout area " breeding animals without end for use in an emergency "'
To put it more colloquially " a digital beta player under the desk"
I demanded the original Spanish document after much arguing got it .
.after all I had two native Spanish speakers in my extended team..

But in providing the quotation we used the company Boiler plate to start the introduction
"We want to have a close working relationship with < insert client name>"
Our Spanish colleagues wanted to send the document off to CART after machine translation ...
But it was good that I got it before it was emailed
As it started with something that my teams spanish speaker
said was a LOT ruder than "We want to f*** a wheelbarrow "

That's one way not to get a job ....... So I still think multi lingual people are much in demand !!!

The Press Preview seems to be running with three guest at the moment, all three appearing via video link of course. Interesting decision, obviously more people are free to appear at the moment I suppose but I’m not sure if there’s room for three people trying to get their voice heard? Maybe someone thought it felt a bit flat with just two without them being physically present.

Do we think the horrible studio with the virtual bit is now a stationery cupboard, or is it just out of use because of coronavirus? Hope the former, fear the latter.

No, everything is coming from the glass box.

Well, it is on air right now.

Indeed. Adam Boulton is sat in there at the moment presenting.

It has also been used for pre-recorded segments in the VR area (with "night" lighting rather than the "day" state previously used for Sunrise).

Looks like I spoke too soon last night Laughing I wonder if they're giving the glass box a deep clean after extensive use over the last few weeks?

Ashish Joshi (in the newsroom speaking to Kimberley Leonard in the studio) sounds as though he’s speaking through a loud speaker. His audio is echoing somewhere. Very loudly.
