Yes - 2005 was the first 16:9 SD contest (and covered in 5.1), and the 2006 contest was apparently shot in HD (or so it was rumoured at the time).
However ISTR the wire cam in 2006 looked pretty average in SD so I suspect will stick out like a sore thumb if we ever see an HD version...

Wasn’t the 2006 contest broadcast in SD but recorded in HD for test purposes? Would be interesting to finally release that as I think all versions out there are still SD.

TBH I would be very surprised to see an actual native HD upload of the 2006 contest. All the songs were uploaded back in 2011 in upscaled SD as well.
And yeah at least the wirecam certainly wasn't HD. Just look at the first seconds of Lordis performance, you can see that the overscan at the left changes quite a bit every time they cut to it, indicating it probably wasn't HD.

The Piano Maestro has been 'at it again' ....
I’ve celebrated my birthday, in lockdown, by doing this. Proudly presenting Eurovision 2020 at the piano…I try to play all 41 songs in one tweet. It’s fast, furious…and a bit crazy. @Eurovision @bbceurovision @BBCNews @BBCWorld @BBCRadio2 @EBU_HQ #Eurovision pic.twitter.com/G8leBYiabo

That really is excellent. That's the exact kind of thing we need at the minute. Very creative.

Fantastic! Every year from 2009 to 2019 (inclusive) is currently available to watch in full on the official YouTube page except from 2015 so this will complete the set! Wonderful news.

CONFIRMED: The BBC will be showing #Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light on 16th May - along with all 41 participating countries.
The show will honour all participating entries. It will also bring together 2020’s artists in a unifying performance of 1997's Love Shine A Light .

It’s all been a bit confusing, but the EBUs show will NOT be shown on BBC One. Instead it’ll be available on the BBC iplayer. A bit silly from the BBC. They could easily have shown both shows back-to-back as the schedule was geared up for around 3.5 hours of Eurovision. The two shows would have filled 4 hours of prime time which is much needed due to the lack of live entertainment programming available right now.
Will this be as well as the previously announced BBC show "Eurovision: Come Together" or instead of?
