Really impressed with James Reynolds. We don't get to see him in a presenter capacity on the news channel very often. Has an aura of a younger Stephen Cole about him.

Yeah, very good. He's done a few Worklife, main relief presenter of Beyond 100 Days and several The Papers recently.

What just happened, they were in a phoner, then the countdown started up (sans numbers), then to a random cut of the Queen talking and the open again this time with the 10 titles.

Why did they do this awkward setup as opposed to saying one moment please while (I assume) BBC One joins us?

BBC World News are showing the BBC1 network bulletin.

It started at 22:05 UK time (5 mins later than billed due to Queen’s address earlier).

It started with the Queen.

Well at least World viewers experienced the double helping of headlines at 10pm which we're often treated to. Why bother with the one at 10pm? Surely just starting the hour with the Breaking news sting and talking about the PM for 5 minutes would've sufficed and then launching into the full sequence at 5 past.

Whereas BBC News Channel viewers are used to such stuff (and to be fair very few would be watching the Ten on there anyway), it must have looked very odd for BBC World News viewers.

When they decided to simulcast at 10 they obviously forgot that BBC News was at 10:05 tonight

An hour ago around 9pm when the Boris hospitalisation story broke, Beth Rigby was in studio. One has to wonder why she has felt the need to dart off to report from outside No10 Downing Street by 10pm this Sunday night? It just looks overly indulgent in the current situation with the "Stay At Home" message.

I'll say the same for the Sky reporter who took herself off to Windsor Castle tonight just to report on the Queen's address. Pointless.

Rhiannon Mills? CNN's UK Royal Correspondent was also outside Windsor Castle.

All right thinking people of whatever political colour should be hoping that he recovers fully. It's in the national interest.

Agreed. This is one of those moments when politics be put to one side.

He was bragging about shaking the hands of Coronavirus patients only a few weeks ago. There's a strong case to be made that we'd be better off, regardless of political colour, not having someone in charge who is a candidate for this year's Darwin award (and who endangered his pregnant fiancee in the process)

Our political system doesn’t allow for that

At least Mishal started the hour. Could've been worse. James Reynolds could have popped up at 10pm only to be replaced 5 minutes later. It has happened before.

Or even better they could have continued with the Alan Duncan interview up until the top of the hour and played the weather out late to fill to five past.

On BBC News now, Laura Kuenssberg live on the phone, with a stock image of her on scree. Maybe they do read this forum!
