Associating it with Brexit is tenuous at best, offensive at worst. If anything it's the world of technology we live in these days that facilitates faux outrage at a moment's notice through social media that they're maybe trying to avoid. Warnings about programmes being recorded before incident X are nothing new. It's just a devastating global virus may be causing a few more to be shown, unsurprisingly.

Most didn't feel it appropriate to bother this year but Corrie dipped it's toe in the water with a potential solution to not being able to record episodes.

This isn't a phenomenon unique to the UK, I've seen Spanish TV running tickers explaining that they are showing a repeat due to the virus, although framing it as an apology for the lack of new content I suspect it's more likely there to head off complaints about people breaking the lockdown and not social distancing.

Ooh, Cartoon Corrie! Does that mean the return of the beehive, perhaps? I’d love that.

The Platts and Barlows are both strong families however I think I prefer the Barlow's more at the moment. As you say Rob Mallard and Sam Robertson are both great and work well together. it was a great idea to bring them both back into the show. Peter is a lot better in recent times as well. Ryan and Ali were another good double act as well, it was such a shame that Ali in particular was underused for much of his time in the show.

They don't seem to know what to do with the Bailey family. I realise that it take time for new families once they arrive but they have been there since last June or July. A month ago we had the storyline about James being gay and it being all over social media and also Aggie going back to nursing but both of these storylines seem to have been forgotten in recent weeks. I know that they block film a lot these days but they seem far better at rotating some of the cast rather than others.

Totally agree with this.
I get the feeling that as long as the actors stay the Barlow revival will be Kate Oates's lasting legacy to the show - bringing back Peter, Daniel and Adam was one of the very first things she did and it's been a pretty resounding success.
I will miss the Ryan & Ali pairing - again the two actors (Ryan Prescott & James Burrows) seemed to really have a natural chemistry and it's a shame we didn't get to see more of it particularly as James Burrows had always made it clear he wasn't going to be a Corrie lifer.

The Baileys too aren't clicking for me either. I'm glad they're not constantly on-screen like say Gemma but they seem to be real victims of block storytelling - they'll be on for a week or two then disappear completely for weeks on end so it's tough to invest in them as characters. Given the hype when they were announced you'd have expected to be a lot more prominent. Didn't help too that Iain Macleod freely gave away storylines that weren't even due to be filmed for many months.

I agree and I hope that Rob Mallard and Sam Robertson stay in the show for a number of years. Especially now Adam is married into the Platt family. The likes of Tina O Brien, Jane Danson, Alison King have all officially quit the show only to return a number of years later. With Alison King it was only a couple of years, Tina was away a lot longer. I wouldn't be surprised if Kym Marsh returns in a few years. It seems only a select few like Sarah Lancashire, Suranne Jones and Katherine Kelly have major success in other roles after Corrie.

As well as the Bailey family others are underused. Faye and Moria are examples of people they don't seem to know what to do with. And Paula. The actress has taken a role in Casualty bur Corrie made a point of denying she was leaving the show. I guess she is hardly there so can appear in both shows!

Damn. Y'know I very nearly suggested that semi-seriously here, but I thought I'd be eye-rolled off the forum.

That said, yesterday's date...

I think yesterday's date is the key to that tweet.

I still don't think it's a bad idea. They could do a few comedic shorts with the likes of Steve, Beth and Mary getting up to all sorts of nonsense. It's about the only thing that could make the current appalling Ken-at-the-retirement-village subplot watchable if it went proper cartoon zany.

Not sure it's the right medium to progress Yasmeen's story, of course...

They've gone all out on April Fools' Day for today's episode, unfortunately going out two days late.

Indeed, funny how half the episode was dominated by April Fools jokes

Also it’s been noticed by others that they aren’t re-editing the credits, so tonight’s listed Sean Tully, Brian Packham and others. They must appear in Monday’s episode.

Stroke of luck that the mid-week, between-episode cliffhanger happened to be chilling enough to work as an end-of-week one, and wasn't just Roy looking for a spoon.

Don't tell me I've missed some spoon adventures with Roy?!
