Do wonder if with social distancing in mind whether it might be better off just pre-recording that 3 minute update shortly after the 6pm broadcast, and then at weekends if necessary they could all probably be recorded in one ITV newsroom in the hour before broadcast.

A full 30 minute bulletin in a few minutes.

Has there ever been a proper full length bulletin on a weekend?

Thanks you Chris.

It always amazes me how some people who frequently post on this site, seem blissfully unaware about some of the pressures facing news organisations at the best of times.

Let alone during a national emergency.

It may be stating the bleeding obvious, but sometimes it just needs to be said.

Bless, Chris Ship thinks that the clocks going forward an hour (complete with a graphic on screen) gives us all an EXTRA hour tomorrow. Very Happy

Not wishing to open a can of worms, but we really could be doing with the calm authority of Alastair Stewart in these times, on air and in wider society.

If other Newscasters self-isolate then there may be no option to ask him back on a temporary basis. Or Sky or BBC could snap him up on a temporary basis as an experienced television journalist.

Can’t see it myself - ITV have plenty of possible presenters to use from Nina, Mary, Tom, Julie etc to the likes of Ranvir or Lucrezia and even the likes of Steve Scott, James Mates, Geraint Vincent and Chris Ship have done bulletins in the past. I struggle to see a scenario where they’d need to draft Alastair in.

Could they draft in Piers Morgan if really desolate?

They could draft in Basil Brush if they really wanted, but I don't think either are likely options.

Several years in for GMB now and I’m surprised we haven’t seen Charlotte Hawkins present an ITV News bulletin.
Charlesy, Brekkie and BBI45 gave kudos

I’d imagine that Charlotte Hawkins and Susanna Reid (if we are on GMB talent pool) would both be quite at home in a news studio, whether on a fixed or rolling news bulletin configuration. Both have done it before.

I don’t recall Piers ever doing a rolling news bulletin before on his own and without a co-presenter.

Mind you, Tom Bradby is now doing just that!
