RTE TV did have a golden age which lasted probably 15 or so years from about 1992 to 2007, they were producing decent watchable shows in all areas of broadcasting. Even now when you watch back the old shows feel fresher than much of today's output. A plus channel would probably make a decent profit even after paying repeat fees. There is very little on it now other than the news.
RTÉ One have an archive showing of Bibi Baskin with the late Larry Gogan on now as a tribute to his recent passing. The quality of the archive show tonight is fantastic. It's a pity the government or the BAI cannot allow RTÉ to have an RTÉ Plus/RTÉ Three channel up on air to make the TV Licence a little bit more worthwhile to the licence payers in Ireland.
