Ruth will be fuming he did it on a Friday. Very Happy

Was there a crossover or do we think the Holly and Phil bit was recorded yesterday?

All 4 of them were sat on the sofa together at the end

I am looking forward to the day that someone's sexuality doesn't make front page news.

I do agree, though I suppose the angle on this one is that he's been married to a woman for a long time. I guess, in that respect, this could be a very helpful situation for someone having a similar experience.

Very true. Many years ago I was in a relationship with a woman when I finally admitted to myself that I'm gay, after years of feeling I had to suppress my true feelings. Thankfully my then girlfriend was extremely supportive despite it being incredibly difficult for her too. So to an extent I can relate to what Phillip and his family have been going through.

At the time it certainly did help seeing openly gay people in the media who were happy and open about their sexuality - I remember sending off for the information pack from Channel 4's 'Coming Out Night'.

I'm sure had there been someone like Phillip on TV at the time who was able to tell a similar story, I've no doubt I would have found that helpful.

In an ideal world, yes, someone's sexuality shouldn't be an issue. But while there is still prejudice, and the 'default' assumption is that someone is heterosexual unless they say otherwise, coming out is still a thing, and public figures being open and honest about themselves is still incredibly important.

For those of you familiar with the geography of the place, what is the distance between the This Morning studio and the Loose Women Studio?

Would it be conceivable to physically conduct the handover between the presenters in the same studio (on the This Morning sofa) and then for the Loose Women presenter to walk to her studio whilst the titles are playing out and in?

Just curious.

Crikey, 27 years of having that in the back of your mind constantly must be tough going

Didn’t Barrymore have a wife too before coming out at one of the TV award shows?

TC3 and TC2 are right next door to each other. With doors propted open, you can easily wander between the two in a 30' credit roll.

I wish they’d give it a go, just to see if it works well. Would the Loose Women presenter need to wear two earpieces (or change earpieces) mid walk, or does the same gallery control both?

I ask that because I recall Piers Morgan having to change his earpiece midway between the main GMB studio and the Lorraine studio (the latter also being the Loose studio) when he did a live link a few months back.

It would just be something fresh to do once in a while.

I'd speculate the tabloids had some dirt on Phil to publish this weekend, so made a rush appearance today to soften the blow.

Holly says its important to say you haven't had your hand forced here and Phillip says no this is my decision its something I knew I had to do and "this was the big day and this was the day I knew everything was pointing towards"

Well it would me irregular for presenters to be wearing another studios earpiece - you'd have to talk to guests/camera whilst taking the first gallery instructions in one ear and second gallery in the other. Galleries can be very noisy at times with rehearsals and sound checks etc. Plus wearing two talkback packs and presenters have moulded earpieces often for one ear so I'd say pretty much impossible.
