19th February isn't exactly an unimportant date in EastEnders history. Very Happy

D'oh, of course.

Still seems a comparatively random episode to show out of all the other major episodes they could have picked. Not a particularly major or well remembered episode compared to many others.

Yes, quite possibly just another way of honouring the 35th Anniversary. Because the early episodes are being repeated on Drama, they may have chosen a later episode that viewers wouldn’t have seen recently.

An Unlisted Programme that lasts 15 minutes

I was going to say it's an odd choice, but at least it isn't the chuffing divorce papers again...

It makes more sense with the Back To Ours scheduling.

I see that the four episodes playing out over anniversary week on BBC One will be in a non-linear format. The focus will be on different characters each day, with each episode ending at the same point in time - a tragedy seen from different viewpoints. The Friday episode brings all the storylines together and shows the aftermath.

This sounds very similar to how Emmerdale’s pile-up/crash storyline played out a few years ago. Those episodes received positive feedback, so I assume Kate Oates is trying out a similar idea here, hoping for the same success. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, of course.

Or The League of Gentlemen series 3, if you need another analogy!

Well Emmerdale did that sort of thing with Graham's murder a couple of weeks ago. Seems like both EE and Corrie moving away from the live specials for their anniversaries this year which probably isn't a bad thing.

But waiting for someone to fluff up is half the fun!

Sounds the same as Emmerdale 2 weeks ago, where a week of episodes all started the same, and as each played out you’d see bits of the other episodes happening in the background

EastEnders themselves did it with the Christmas Day/New Year's Day episodes very successfully, so they've already had a go.
