She was on sick leave at the time, wasn't she? So she'd already left the show.

Officially she was taking a 'three month break' for unspecified reasons, and hadn't filmed an exit scene. This was her final appearance...

Almost - they was a scene afterwards where Ken suggested she go to Bev and it ended with walking into the hallway to ring her.

That final scene was interesting in that at the time, many hated it, thought it was over the top and not like the subtle scenes of yesteryear.

Then when it later ended up as Deirdre’s final scene it became a much loved iconic Corrie moment

This video has her actual final scene at the end:

Never actually noticed before how some of the trifle lands on the lamp and it starts smoking then goes out... ouch.

I didn't realise that at all. Thanks for the correction. Someone should tell ITV to correct the official Corrie YouTube account too!

I'm sure ITV know, they've probably decided the trifle scene is more dramatic, even if it is giving a false impression. Her actual final scene isn't particularly exciting, though Tracy closing the door on her being the last we see of her does feel a bit meaningful in hindsight, though of course they didn't know it would be her final scene at the time.

The final scene must have been tough for Anne to film if she had already been diagnosed/was suspecting something bad before filming it.

I guess at least she got an on screen exit, many actors who have to leave for health reasons just vanish, with an explanation given weeks later for where they've supposedly gone.

Watching ITV3 we've seen what happened to Ivy, her final scene was probbaly the most boring, run of the mill scene possible for a veteran character of over 20 years, with her sitting at a table making faces at Sarah and David, then we didn't see or hear anything about her for months until Don told us she'd gone to a retreat. Though in that case it's because she'd been sacked rather than fallen ill.

From what I can gather everyone was expecting her to return, even quite close up to her death, but she took a turn for the worse.
