What is the point of BBC Breakfast on a morning like this? I get that the rugby world cup final is the leading news event today but surely everyone in the country who is interested in it will be watching itv's rugby coverage rather than Breakfast? It seems daft for the BBC to be devoting 4 hours of Breakfast to the rugby world cup - and what compounds it is that the Breakfast presenters and sports presenter are clearly watching itv on their monitors during the programme.
For the very few who won't be watching the rugby, Breakfast should be providing a news service as an alternative - mentioning the rugby, sure, but not devoting hours after hours to it. It's essentially a 4 hour promo for itv. No wonder 0 people will be watching BBC One this morning.
Surely all those bars and clubs up and down the land will be taking 5Live's coverage, with the MHEG caption on their big screens, not that rubbish vulgar <bbc 1950s patronising voice> commercial television broadcast TV that's full of adverts.
Seriously though, yes I agree Breakfast are being a touch OTT over it. Anyway we're off to the shops at 9, and our regular weekend coffee in John Lewis
