The whole idea of a 9.25 handover was an anachronism for years ( I still remember on Oracle that local tv listings didn't start until 9.25 when the transmitter switched from TVAM to YTV)
It'll be interesting to see how this "free-flowing" form of ITV will work. I wonder if ITV News will be on standby in case of any major events?

ITV are being crafty here. If you've ever watched this morning on catchup and fast forward through the ads and the competitions you can have it watched in about an hour and 10 minutes. It's a chance for them to throw more adverts in.
Eh? Presumably there'll be the same number of ad breaks as they have now, just more in This Morning
I wonder if they'll do a throw from Lorraine to This Morning as they do from GMB to Lorraine?
Don't forget the number of slots for competitions increases throughout GMB and This Morning. That's also advertising.

It wasn't an anachronism at the time, there was good reason for it, even if it does seem absurd by modern day standards...

Would they have the schedule an ad-break to start or finish at 9.25? Surely as long as they don’t have a break straddling 9.25 there should be no issue. Perhaps the only sign of the 9.25 “handover” will be a wee glitch and a change of watermark for STV viewers.
The only real guarantee I suppose if that is an ad break that starts and/or finishes bang on 9:25am. Beyond that, well the schedule marker that dates from 1983 is buried.

I wonder if the new rumoured Alison Hammond chat show could be coming from Salford? Unless ITV don’t really see it as an issue, as they were over delivering on the quota?
They were only over-delivering because of Jeremy Kyle and ITV Nightscreen. Nightscreen won't be able to be included soon because of a rule change so they will be significantly under-delivering soon. I'd be surprised if Alison's show wasn't coming from Salford but we'll see.

Ah interesting. I was not aware Nightscreen was soon to be disqualified from counting towards the quota because of a rule change.
Where are all of the afternoon gameshows filmed?

Imagine if they did something complicated like having that particular break end at e.g. 09:25:30 so that STV/UTV viewers see a single STV/UTV-branded programme trailer as the day's first sighting of their local station brands?! (Or even having the break-bumper inbetween the final commercial and that trailer being the first STV/UTV sighting of the day!)

Not during the TV-AM days I agree but post GMTV.

Should be no problem, as they are next door to each other
It's not a problem whereever they are physically, it's just a case of whether they want to

Yes this ad break will need to remain within a fixed window of time centred around 9:20am as there is still a (seamless) transmission switchover around that time. Discussions of its demise are premature.
