A bit surprised to see Celebrity Countdown in the More4 schedules next Tuesday at 9pm, presented by Nick Hewer with Rachel and Susie, with Jo Brand playing Jay Rayner.

Just seems odd that they have a very successful and funny celebrity version of Countdown established on C4, so they're going to launch a cheaper inevitably less fun version fronted by the worst host (yet somehow second longest running) host they've ever had.

Only one episode? Seems a bit strange.

There are more games. Further details on the C4Countdown forum:

I guess this is more for the regular Countdown audience, with celebs playing the game properly rather than it being a situation to hang gags on.

What’s wrong with Nick? I really like the man, he feels much more relatable then the Deses did to me. Des L was too grumpy and Des O was too showbiz (I loved him doing Take Your Pick years back, but not for Countdown).

Doubt it - the trailer shows the normal theme tune

Suspect Rachel is alot more pregnant in the evenings than during the day.

Dire dry start though - I'm a maths fan but a 5 minute explanation of a numbers game from 20 years ago isn't the way to start a show.

I agree Nick is a whole lot better than either Des ever was, but Jeff Stelling was literally perfection sadly he couldn't resist the football!

Don't really watch too much these days though although I do like it when Paul Zenon is on with his old school magic tricks, far better entertainment than someone in DC just waffling about nothing for 5 minutes!

Celebrity...It was all a bit weird really - why change the entire scoring system especially considering they're hardly throwing 'dumb' celebrities at these!

Can't help but think they've missed a trick not doing Sean Lock Vs John Richardson in a serious game played to proper rules.
