Its cray that CBC doesnt make any of their live news content available on a streaming channel. Similar to CBSN. Just sub out the adverts for US ones rather than Canada ads. And bobs your uncle. Its funny how places complain the US dominates everything but they dont make their programs or content available. CBC does make a curated content channel available on XUMO streaming networks. Buts its nothing live. Just clips compiled with an ident between each story. Similar to BritBox, its interesting why CBC or ABC Australia wont make their content available on streaming channels. The world of streaming tv makes global broadcasting possible everywhere. There are loads of great programmes that go unseen outside of Canada because the CBC refuses to look outside its borders.

I suspect rights issues are the main factor. The ABC and CBC make a lot of money from selling their non-news programming (and news footage) to broadcasters around the world -- and the price of that programming would drop substantially if it were available to everyone online.

That's the main reason why the BBC's iPlayer is also geoblocked.

Yeah I get the rights issues. I was referring to programming they create that never gets seen anywhere else outside their respective borders. ITV and BBC made programmes like that available via Britbox for a fee. That way they can monetize those productions and put the money back into the corporation and continue to improve the BBC for the license fee payers.

Last Tuesday, here in Brazil, the Jovem Pan radio network (with a handful of owned-and-operated stations and about 80 affiliates for their news/talk network, as well as a sister CHR network, also branded "Jovem Pan") has opened the Antônio Augusto Amaral de Carvalho (or "Seu Tuta") Studio Complex (named after their founder), home of their upcoming online platform, "Panflix", and radically changed the format of their morning newscast (broadcast across their news/talk network, as well as both their news/talk and CHR stations in São Paulo), which changed to a video-first format (Jovem Pan has had video-capable studios for online broadcast for a few years now, but their programming was - and still is, in its majority - designed to be audio-first).

Here's the full-length broadcast, starting with the opening ceremony, with São Paulo state governor, João Doria, and Jovem Pan owner and CEO, Antônio Augusto Amaral de Carvalho FIlho, or "Tutinha" (son of Seu Tuta):

And this is how the broadcast looked (mostly sounded) like a few months ago:

And back in 2015, when video livestreams were mostly an afterthought:

FTVLIVE is doing their annual Best/Worst stations to work for.
WSVN 7 Miami came in at #9 of the best stations to work for. Not bad out of over 300 stations nationwide.
FTVLIVE is the industry "gossip page" if you want. Its snarky and all of their stories happen as they are written. Nice little read.

We head to SoFlo for the No. 9 best Tv station to work for on our list.

WSVN in Miami is one station that everyone should have on their resume. At WSVN it is about the news and only the news. The station is more like a news factory, that it is a newsroom.

If you live and breathe TV news, then this is the place to be.

If you’re a person that needs constant feedback and told what a good job you’re doing, this is not the station for you. WSVN puts on the best newscast they can and when it’s over, the focus is on the next newscast.

Alice Jacobs the VP of News is not in your face micro-managing all that you do. The station is about hiring good people and letting them do their job. If you’re not good, they will cut ties with you and try to find someone that is.

This is a place where the news is the star and not the people that deliver it. No BS stories to cover. Hard news rules the day at Channel 7.

The station is very different from other stations, but it is a good kind of different. There is no doubt that some will not like it.

But, as we said, if you love news, don’t need to be coddled, then this is a place for you.

Check back next hour for No. 8 on our list.
