With the 'LIVE' graphic in the top left, it would interfere. And maybe it looked too weird when the graphics animated on screen overlapping the logo if it was kept at the bottom left like before.

It may be light, but I wouldn't say it's "hardly noticeable" and it just looks silly having it floating there in the top right of the screen. Especially as it is 4:3 safe. They really should just remove it altogether. We still see the name when the graphics come on anyway. They really are obsessed with having as much on screen as possible, which is still noticeable on the endboards with 4 mentions of the BBC on screen at once.

Top left would clash with Live/location bugs, so that's out of the question.

That looks a bit silly when watching on iPlayer. At times there are 3 BBC logos on screen.

I think every TV news outlet on the island of Ireland has some sort of permanent logo or dog so no point in Newsline being odd one out.

1. That's just not true - TG4 and UTV (it's main competitor) don't.

2. "Everyone else does it so we should as well" is hardly a resounding reason to do something.

If you watch it on iPlayer, there'll be 5 BBC mentions on screen at the same time at the end of the programme -
