In Ireland, The Weakest Link is already repeated daily on their Irish language channel TG4 at 10.00am and 2.05pm.

It’s great news to see Weakest Link back, many episodes have been blocked on YouTube by the BBC
The question is how long will it be on for before it gets bumped to make way for stuff like another new to Challenge Pointless series.

It will get a slight bounce as it kicks off, because it has not been seen for such a long time. Then I suspect it will settle down. TG4 in Ireland love repeating it, mid morning television in Ireland is ratings hell, and having a popular quiz show like it attracts some figures, to help TG4 fill those two hours.

Wiki suggests the need for a moody host was dropped in some later international versions of the show, though in fairness Anne Robinson did lighten up a little bit at some point but was still predominately moody. The later change to the end game question delivery was very much needed though.

Mind you having a moody host as opposed to a stereotypical happier-than-thou host could have been interesting for some other gameshow formats.

I do think the "moody" theme in gameshows really needs to finally snuff it. The Chase just about manages to get away with it thanks to the banter from Bradley and the Chasers, but even shows like Who Dares Wins still have these horribly dramatic musical stings that, IMO, dates it horribly. I know if you go in the opposite direction you risk the show being cheesy and naff, but it'd still be a nice change.

The Weakest Link will start on Challenge TV on Monday 16th September at 6.00pm

Worth getting home early to watch!! At last, something worth seeing in the 6pm slot!! Hasn't been anything decent at that time for ages on Challenge!!

At the moment they have got a double bill of Bullseye from series 2 in 1982, which for me personally one episode a day would be enough for me.

Can't see The Weakest Link lasting long really in that slot. Just doesn't tick enough boxes and suspect Anne's approach has dated quite badly.

In other news Deal Or No Deal returns to Challenge again at 4am on Tuesday
Don’t get why they have Teleshopping at 6 though.

Much the same as anything else that airs on a commercial channel - to make money.
Contrary to popular belief TV channels don't run because its a nice thing to do and provide entertainment for people to slump on their sofas in front of of, they are businesses at the end of the day after all. Any business that doesn't make money won't last very long, and TV channels aren't cheap to run, even those that get on air through automated play out systems.

In America, infomercials and teleshopping are now the staple diet for overnight programming on the main networks. It is what pays the bills for the affiliates and the owned and operated stations too. 2.00am until 5.00am is the main home for teleshopping on main networks there.
