Chill gone too.
Apart from Planet Rock they were probably two of the last of the original set of DAB stations, some of the many that the early adopters saw in their channel list and has no idea what they were. Never really marketed or thought of

I thought that too, it does feel the end of an era. I listened to Chill very infrequently but enjoyed it when I did, most recently only yesterday (by pure chance) It will clearly be very different once the Smooth brand takes it over

MixCloud hosts the current specialist shows on Chill which aren't moving to the rebrand, so nothing is lost.

As I say there was a time when DAB was full of original stations, mostly with vaguely descriptive one word names: Core, Arrow, Life, Groove, Chill. Now it's just brand extensions and national versions of local networks.
Oddly there was a time when Global was giving up on DAB, now they're leading the way

Have to say on first listen Smooth Chill isn't as "commercial" as I feared. That said I expect it to skew gradually away from old Chill. Shame I have lost in the car after DAB East Midlands now has Smooth Country in its place as noted previously

So another set of local stations are set to rebrand, although interestingly this time it’s a “brand licensing agreement” instead of a buyout.

Not too sure why they wouldn’t just sell these stations to Global because they surely lose all editorial control? 20/21 hours a day will come from London, plus all the journalists are being transferred to Global.
Obviously no idea how this works from a profit point of view, but it’s got to be attractive to both Global and the shareholders at Quidem!
