In Ireland, Virgin Media and eir have agreed to carry their sports channels on each other’s platforms.

Virgin Media and eir have agreed a deal to carry their key sports channels on each other’s TV platforms.
Under the agreement, Virgin Media Sport will be available to eir customers as part of the eir sport pack and in turn, eir sport will be available to Virgin Media TV customers.
The new arrangement will come into effect in the coming weeks ahead of the upcoming Rugby World Cup, and the new season of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League.

But (more) bad news for standalone eir Sport pack subscribers on satellite, who are losing eir Sport 2 to make way for Virgin Media Sport. True, since it disaffiliated from Premier Sports on 1st August it’s shown nothing but repeats, but it will get use during the Rugby World Cup and once Pro14 season starts.
VM Sport’s content consists almost entirely of UEFA football, with all Champions League and Europa League matches, plus European Qualifiers that don’t involve the Republic of Ireland. Literally everything it has is also on Sky Sports or BT Sport.
An oddity of this deal is that Eir Broadband customers will get the eir Sport and VM Sport channels. Virgin Broadband customers get...nothing unless they also take tv from Virgin. It wouldn’t be such a problem if Virgin Broadband wasn’t so much better and faster than eir.

Eleven showed that even with Serie A and various other leagues (plus some golf) you couldn’t make it profitable charging just £5pm / £50 per year. That’s without an existing streaming and subscriber management system in place. La Liga / Mediapro will know they could get more from a deal with another company than they’d make streaming it themselves, they just haven’t yet accepted what those companies are willing to pay.
If Eleven just restreamed La Liga TV can't they sell that directly to the UK market.
