I still have the schedules for the first three days. They were handwritten and photocopied! On Thursday Oct 25th at 2315 we showed a European Cup Special (Notts Forest v ?) from ATV then at 23:55 The Entertainers - Tom Paxton (from Grampian). Closedown at 00:15 On Friday 26th STV showed the film "The Lost Flight" locally at 10:20 (after 'the Nature of Things' from Thames) returning to the network at 12:00. After 'Ike' at 23:15 we had Late Call, at 23:20 Ways and Means (our weekly political programme) and at 23:50 Police Surgeon (the Canadian series) with Closedown at 00:20. On both nights we had "Scotland Today" at 6 and on the Friday we had Scottish News at 13:20.

Here is the archive TV Times for the first full week ITV was back after the strike. The TV Times for Saturday 27th October until Friday 2nd November 1979

https://radiosoundsfamiliar.com/complete-tv-times-october-1979.php

As you will see the network was still struggling to get back to normal, even in the first full week back.

Actually, it was TV Times with its long print lead times that was struggling to get back to normal.

Presumably the new schedules couldn't be sent over to TV Times until the strike was over, and possibly not even finalised unless they kept a schedule in place throughout the strike to put into action when it ended.

Was the first weeks return similar I schedule to the planned schedule for the first week of the strike?
