There's a fairly new Playout/TX system on the Beeb channels.

It might be that it's difficult to re-programme junctions and abort programmes, when they aren't expecting to have to click 'Take Next' to move onto the next item in the schedule. Horizon would've had a fixed end marker to go into a Trail sequence.

Would have expected an announcement on BBC Two from Sue Barker or Clare Balding though, as part of the coverage. Should have stuck with things as they were until the next junction. This was a really poor scheduling decision to move things when they did.

BBC Four stays pre-recorded as always. Will be expecting this story to come up on Points of View somewhat soon!

Well the BBC complaints website is timing out all over the shop, if that's anything to go by.

Then the system is not fit for purpose for running a set of national reactive channels of a ‘state broadcaster’

Perhaps they should have let the pres OB truck at Wimbledon look after the junctions, with the affected programmes run off EVS on site !

Clare Balding with something an apology on BBC Four.

No apology in the 9pm continuity as the schedule resumes. That is where it should have come from and what you would expect on the BBC. So poor.

Pre-recorded continuity there unfortunately.

As compensation the whole programme appears to be on Iplayer.

I did say the BBC would mess it up, but I didn’t predict it would be that bad. Shocking for the BBC, you’d expect something like that from a high numbered fully automated channel.

What a way to end coverage of Wimbledon, for it to just be cut off!

BBC One wasn’t perfect either, with the announcer just saying ‘Now later than billed, it’s Countryfile’, no mention on whether Antiques Roadshow would be on, or whether Poldark would still be on time or not. This sort of thing used to be basic stuff for the BBC.

It's not a new programme so no surprises there.

I'm beginning to think the same - however, someone told me recently that Grass Valley's ICE playout system is pretty much the only game in town, so it may be Hobson's choice.

Looks like the BBC Four video has been blocked on copyright grounds on YouTube, apologies.
