I don't know why they don't use Carrie, Martine, Kasia and both Ben Bland/Thompson to cover the national news over the summer. Then get Alpa / Alice to cover their shifts when they return.

Some of those presenters wouldn't get to the national bulletins if there was a mass outbreak of swine flu that led to 90% of the newsroom being off at the same time unexpectedly.

Why, Alex?

Well some of them's domestic work amounts to a handful of shifts at most (and are not particular senior at World either), some rarely present anything other than Business and some simply seem to be out of favour with BBC management (weirdly having a major public dispute with your employer doesn't tend to get you the good work). The BBC is not exactly short of people to ask to present the six and ten (and the vastly overrated by BBC management Tina Daheley never seems to turn down work, unfortunately).

What a ridiculous comment! what do you think contingency planning is for!

It was clearly just a way of saying that there are almost certainly several other presenters who would be asked to present the main bulletins before many of those mentioned in the previous post. To suggest that certain names would be unlikely to be part of such a contingency plan doesn't suggest that such a plan doesn't exist.

Stop digging yourself into a hole and have a little bit of respect for people.

Julian Worricker and Samantha Simmonds on the News Channel. That’s a sign that the summer season is upon us, I guess. It’s rare for either of them to be on the Channel these days.

Julian has been fairly active recently. What time was he on, thought it was just a World simulcast after The Papers.

A sad reflection of the News Channel in 2019.

Or an accurate reflection that we're in Summer Holiday season from now til the end of August as the schools are due to break up both next week and the following week.

Still early as schools haven't broken up yet, Huw has been off for weeks
