I didn't realise that it had been live the previous day!
That must mean the editted highlights on Sunday afternoon were probably the better bits.
What confused me was the graphics also suffering with the coding issues.
If it had been a remote production I would have expected the graphics to have been inserted off site at where the cameras were being cut. This can't have been the case?
What on earth went on here?
Just received a rather insidious EM asking about AZPV’s tennis coverage. All was well until it seemed I was asked to effectively appraise each of their current and possible future presenters and commentators. This exercise seemed a vehicle for all sorts of vendettas to be raised. Generalities in surveys are fine, dealing with named individuals not. I intend to make these comments known to the management.

Broadcasters -- or rather various research companies operating on their behalf -- evaluate the public perception of on-air personalities all the time. For better or for worse, it's just market research.

I'd expect it to be host - I don't think the BBC have that many unilateral cameras on centre court, and I don't think the Centre Court director will want to direct their own cameras to be cut in by the BBC from ISOs.

But, that's no worse than showing a non broadcast pilot of a consumer programme to a couple of focus groups of 20 odd people, then asking them what they thought of the well known host, reporters and how well they 'gel' on screen?

Or a political party using polling data to assess the popularity of its high-profile figures.
I had a look earlier and had a sore head. But from what I could summarise they will either offer
- an exclusive pay-TV deal for all matches
- sharing of the rights between a pay-TV and an OTT provider
- sharing of the rights between a pay TV and a FTA provider, where the FTA provider gets one second-pick match per week.
And the really good news? La Liga won’t schedule El Classico during the 3pm blackout any more.
The FTA broadcaster basically would have to show 12 non Real Madrid/Barcelona games to get 8 games featuring one of them as the rights are capped at 4 games featuring top 5 teams, so arguably their "second-pick" becomes a third pick most weeks. Having 20 games rather than 38 though might suit ITV4 considering their other commitments.
