Well when have OFCOM ever not greenlit something

The takeover of Sky by Fox, which was referred to the Competition and Markets Authority.

"Our report says that we consider that these concerns may justify a reference by the Secretary of State to the Competition and Markets Authority."

It suggests to me that Discovery was more interested in the EPG slots than access to the content.

Prior to the deal being agreed, there was a rumour circulating online that Discovery was going to be offered LCN 012 on Freeview for Quest, but that doesn’t seem to have materialised.

Good Food has a semi decent position on the Sky EPG, I think it’s Discovery’s second highest spot on Sky.

Just seen an ad saying that Dave is moving to Freeview channel 19 next week.

Interesting. So with Dave going to 19, Yesterday must be moving to 37 to allow Quest to jump to 12?

I wonder if Sky numbers change as well? Quest moving to 111 and Dave moving to 144?

UKTV freeview channel numbers changes today;

Dave 12 > 19
Yesterday 19 > 25
Home 25 > 12

I guessing this is the deal agreed and we are now in the final stages of that deal going through. Once it has I expected more channel changes from discovery like quest moving to channel 12.

Dave and Yesterday have been running ads about the move. Home is not I guess because it’s temporary. Really and Home still displaying the UKTV logo but I’ve not seen many cross channel ads across soon to be BBC and Discovery channels.

Anyone know the date when UKTV will officials be split?

Have to say it’s a shame Dave has dropped so far down. I guess it will have some sort of effect going forward. Discovery have done well out of this.

Odd that they are bothering to put Home on 12 if its only temporary. Couldn't they have left the channel swapping until everything was cleared and ready to go so Quest (most likely) can just go straight to 12 and Home can move/close/merge at the time.

Isn't Home essentially being sold to Discovery along with its EPG slot, meaning that they have had to do it in two phases? When the BBC get Dave they wouldn't have been able to sell the slot, whereas the arrangement now means that Discovery can swap Home with Quest when both channels are under 100% common ownership.

I am no expert but my guess is the BBC agreed to move Dave so that the deal could go through for less. If they wanted EPG 12 then it would have cost them more.

I guess they done this swap to tie up the loose ends before the deal completes. If the deal was done then it would have been difficult to move channels because they are two separate broadcasters and that probably goes against a Freeview rule and it stop anyone squatting or making money out of someone else channel place.

Really, Good Food and Home have been removed from the UKTV "Network" website home page, but are currently still included on the "Channels" page and the homepage of the corporate website.
