Lovely upload. Wonder how long that FETV subbranding lasted for?

The full series of Hardwicke House has appeared on Youtube, after 33 years locked away in Central's vault.

Really does go to show it really isn't THAT controversial, especially compared to what's come since (or even some things that were around at the time, like the Comic Strip presents). Innapropriate for the timeslot and promotion it was given, yes, but hardly deserving of being locked away for over 30 years.

Oh goody. No more watching episodes 1 and 2 in potato vision (these aren't perfect quality either but at least they're masters dubs). I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before they were leaked - pity it took 32 years.
I shall watch all those at some point later this week and see what all the fuss was about.

What Pointless looked like at the beginning of its run back in 2009:
Richard did eventually get a bigger desk

Supposedly rare (though I've never seen them before, to be fair) TLC idents from the mid 90s before it went, you know, a bit s**t...

It also... dare I say... isn't very good?

Each to their own.
I've now ploughed through all seven episodes and from what I saw it wasn't that bad a show, I have seen far worse (and far better) in all honesty. Yes, 8pm wasn't suitable for it by 1987 standards (would love to know who agreed that and seemingly didn't bother to check it before the sh*t hit the fan) but looking at it in 2019 I can see why it generated the uproar it did in 1987 but today... Hm.
The writers did say that when they did research for the project the stories they found were far more daunting than what ultimately went in the show. On the plus side they and the crew apparently were paid for the canned second series (thanks to Roy Kinnear).

If not being very good was criteria for yanking a show off the schedules after 2 episodes and not letting it even be repeated or released on DVD 30 years later, there'd be a hell of a lot of unbroadcast programmes sitting in the archive

The posted videos look like they're VHS dubs, indeed one of the comments on the video suggests the uploader "acquired" these back in 1987 and they've been halfway across the world twice over in the meantime.
VHS in my experience was never very good at the audio side of things and I would hope the (presumably) Betamax masters sitting on a shelf somewhere at Leeds are better quality both audio and visual wise, even if all they are good for as far as ITV are concerned gathering dust.

This is true, but even the quality of the audio is off. Like they're only using the camera mics... I'm not sure what's going on with it.
