Coronation Street

Costa & Coop p68: Repeats on ITV3: Is there too many spoilers?

Lost track of how many shows do that and it's always jarring

I do wish (modern) Corrie would sort out the frame rate of their occasional CGI elements. The robin Mary’s been talking to in recent episodes looked like it had been rendered in 25ps giving it a filmic look.

I’ve noticed this effect quite a few times before, meaning CGI sequences often look quite jarring and unrealistic. Surely it can’t be a major thing to produce it to match the rest of the programme.

They managed to render the tram crash CGI in 50i, after all.

They also did a fantastic job in simulating Kevin’s son’s amputated leg a while back...

I even wondered at the time if they’d hired an amputee actor for the role in advance of the storyline.

But then at other times they produce something shoddy in the wrong frame rate. Perhaps one of the designers on the show has got the wrong render settings saved on his computer. Wink

Have they followed up that storyline much?

The robin looked more like stock footage than CGI to me.

Edit: speaking of the tram crash, does anyone have a 50i recording of it?

I suspect it’s stock footage of a robin, placed in the scene by computer. I’m not sure if that strictly qualifies as CGI or not.

Tomorrow ITV3 are showing the episode(s) that originally went out as an hour long against the first episode of Eldorado. As it was originally made as two separate half hour episodes but combined into an hour at the last minute (to "strangle Eldorado at birth", as they said), I'm wondering if they'll show it as a single hour long episode or as the two episodes they were originally made as. Granada Plus showed them as the separate episodes. The latter would give them an extra advert break, so wouldn't be suprised if they showed it that way just because of that.

Talking about ITV3, I noticed this credit error at the end of the 6:00am episode today...

So I assume neither Liz Dawn nor Helen Worth actually had their names credited on that episode? How does that happen, a character credited as being played by another character...? Confused

Well clearly someone just wrote it in wrong.

And somebody didn’t double check afterwards either.

If they show them as an hour, let’s hope they don’t cock them up like they did the Christmas 1991 episodes!

Si-Co and james-2001 gave kudos
