The new NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

Not sure why they presented from the balcony given its not exactly warm out, especially since Mary had to introduce a prerecorded down the line interview she had done in the studio earlier, that looked a bit silly.

Central had their reporter in a position with the Rotunda behind. I was trying to work out where it might have been and the conclusion I've reached is the top of the NCP on High Street.

Both programmes had interviews with the Chief Constable in the same position so I wonder if they'd pooled together for that link.

Personally I think Central did a better job of telling the story and you explaining yesterday's verdict.
Hello, good evening, and remain indoors.

Midlands Today dedicating their whole programme to the story tonight, presented from the balcony rather than the studio.

Fake Britain has been replaced on Monday evening with a special programme as well, on BBC One Midlands. Schedules not yet updated however was trailed at the end of MTD with an Aston.

Is the programme going to be shown in NI, as the documentary a couple of years ago was (though that was produced by BBC News NI).

Can't see that it went out on BBC One NI but Monday's special programme is currently on the news channel in place of Hardtalk and has a couple of airings over the weekend.

Someone in Birmingham seemed to forgot to edit out the Points West straps on a report it had shown tonight.

Uniquely given the story they were edited to be black and white straps too so you’d think they’d have edited the name on them too.

It’s pretty uncommon for regional news stories to have burnt in Astons. If they were special black and white ones by design though that’s possibly why they were burnt in.
Two minutes regions...

I've known it happen when there are a couple of astons in quick succession that they don't want to risk getting wrong when done live

A different style graphic was used to display Shefali’s name in the evening midlands today update today. Was back to the normal bbc one on the late.

Looks like a try-out for Reith. Somewhat underwhelming though - the BBC Midlands Today slug appears to be something of an afterthought.

Interesting....

I can only assume that the whole look will need changing if they're going to go for these graphics. The black astons don't suit when the titles and the look are all white.

The way it pops up is quite nice. But the Midlands Today logo is horrific. Reith just does not look good like that for a main logo at all.

That whole bottom picture looks like a combination of things that shouldn't have got to air. Terrible graphics and a reporter in a suit that looks like its about 5 sizes too large and borrowed from his dad.

The animation is very nice. I think the name should be in title case rather than upper case.

Looks like the BBC still can’t do anything more creative than blocks of plain colour however - both for the straps and the logo.

Reminds me a little of the straps from ITV News’ black and yellow look.
