The replies are amusing, with many pointing out the broadcasters obsession with vox popping people on market stalls and people drinking at 11am in pubs.

While watching the ads in-between the RTÉ Six-One news. There is a new RTÉ documentary coming up next Thursday night which will have their camera crew go behind the scenes with the lead Brexit Negotiator Michel Barnier. The new one off special documentary is called The Clock is Ticking. It will begin next Thursday at 10:15pm on RTÉ One. It won't finish until midnight.

Quote:
The Clock Is Ticking - Thursday 18th April 10.15pm RTÉ One

This one-off special offers a glimpse inside the rocky process that has been the implementation of Brexit, as the team follows the EU’s chief negotiator Michel Barnier as he deals with a variety of issues to do with the UK leaving the EU.

This includes his visit to the Irish border area and attempts to figure out how the Good Friday Agreement works into the lengthy discussions.

Just find a Wetherspoons. You won't be able to avoid Brexit in there though...

It's been a while since I've gone for a pint that early, but isn't 11am the standard pub opening time?

Yes, it's been 11am for Donkey's Years. I use the time at home, abroad, and in airports (in local time) as the threshold of vulgarity to be drinking. It's soft drinks or coffees only for me right up to 10:59:59

Ofcom have released a note to broadcasters [pdf] giving notice of the election period.

Quote:
In the case of the European Parliamentary elections which may be contested on 23 May 2019 in the UK, this period begins on 12 April 2019 (in the case of the South West electoral region only) and 15 April 2019 (in the case of all electoral regions, except the South West).

It doesn't explain why the South West gets three days' headstart. Anyone got any ideas?

Does the South West region not also include Gibraltar?

Something to do with Gibraltar being included in the South West region for the European Parliament maybe? Do they have a different election date or rules?

Same election date (Albet the voting opens 7-10 Gribalter time which is 6-9 UK time.) but maybe different rules.

The period of sensitivity is 25 working days, and there are additional non-working days in Gibraltar in that period.

Are there any Ofcom mandated channels there ? I read recently Sky and BBC World had been removed from the cable network there ?
