Bringing BBC Three back as a new channel, commercially funded is possible, as long as no licence fee is used. It won't happen though. BBC Three is there as a licence fee paid channel - ish, and so relaunching it as a commercial venture is not a great idea.

I don't think it's any more possible than BBC One or Two becoming commercial. It would almost certainly need government approval as I don't think there's any agreed process to enable the BBC Trust to commercialise a channel.

Also, if it happened I could see it leading to the privatisation of Radio 1.

I expect they would require BBC Trust approval for this, but one option would be to merge BBC Three content with channels like W or Dave.

I think that's unlikely to happen though, as it would mean that they wouldn't be able to show BBC Three programmes on BBC One or Two.

Edit: Realised that Really's going to Discovery, so wouldn't be able to move any content there.

Dave is basically the closest thing to BBC3 now, and arguably Really too.

As long as Dave is a success, getting good ratings and producing more home produced shows, BBC Three will remain online with the BBC One presence. Dave is very good. Red Dwarf will be back again soon for a new series on it. Dave has been one of the key successes in the UKTV channel portfolio.

If they decide to rebrand Good Food, they could always go with The Cooking Channel, which they majority own in the USA. It all probably depends on how keen they are to use the same brands around the world, as they could change Home to HGTV also.

They may decide to close it and merge it with Food Network.

All depends on viewing figures and how commercially viable the 2 channels are.

I wonder if Most Haunted will get the chop under Really TV's new owners. The paranormal programme used to be a hit for what was called Living TV. Then in 2010 when Sky bought the channel, it axed Most Haunted fast. Now with new owners, I wonder how much Disney can tolerate the show which has been accused of fakery?

I wouldn’t think so, I believe that Most Haunted can be the highest rated show on Really at the point when new episodes are shown, and can even get itself into the top UK trends on Twitter. It would also seem illogical to axe Most Haunted since Really have positioned themselves as a paranormal (partially) based channel along side the usual lifestyle shows, and at the end of the day, the channel itself notifies viewers that it is for entertainment purposes.

Until this post I wasn't aware that Most Haunted was still on-air (or that it had moved). I do find it most amusing that a show, accused of fakery, is airing on a channel called Real ly




As Good Food is a well known brand in the UK, it would not surprise me if they chose to license the brand from the BBC. Then either merge Food Network into it or rebrand it into a sister channel like "Good Food Abroad" (with non-UK based cookery shows).

With the other Good Food outlets operated by the BBC directly still running, it would make it an attractive collaboration for both parties I would think...
