I don’t think it’s a hallway but an alcove.
Is all of that behind just a newswall with graphics on it or is there really a sort of a hallway/entrance behind Robyn?

Spoiler - you don't!
And by the time they get through the "headlines" it's practically afternoon.
Good Morning America has started the week with a new look set. I'm yet to decide whether I like it or not:

Don't worry. I have now come to that conclusion.

Generally, agree with what has been said, don't think it works very well for a morning programme and I'm not quite sure what they were going for with that corridor/alcove behind the desk. A step back on what they had in my opinion. Other elements of the studio look fine (particularly the part with the windows) when I look at this video which shows other parts of the studio so I don't really know why they put the desk where it is:

Personally for years I have hated everything done by GMA. Music, sets, graphics and format. EVERYTHING. This latest disaster just adds to my hate for GMA. I actually thought it was an April fools joke someone posted. That is the reason why I didnt post it yesterday. Its badly designed IMO. It has a horrible layout. The dizzying Matrix-esque corridor/alcove behind the anchor desk makes absolutely no sense visually. The game show-style silver elements that sit in front of the the badly lit video panels. All they video walls are blasted with a cold blue lighting scheme from the horrible lighting design. The video walls have a noticeable moire pattern, which is an unforgivable error on the part of the set designer or whoever chose them. Its claustrophobic mix of materials and angles and curves and odd blind corners. It all adds up to a suffocating design that just adds to the jumble of presentation that GMA presents every morning and I for one hate everything about it. I have never been a fan of most of the sets used by ABC NEWS. Typically. And this disaster proves that to be true for me. Two thumbs down from me. Hideous.
EDIT: I do like one thing. The anchor chairs. ehhh.

Worth crossposting this post I made at TVNewsTalk...
I spoke to one prominent set designer and fabricator who called the new GMA studio “a POS” and doesn’t expect it to last five months. But added it can’t be said publicly as the community is so small and you frequently have to work with other designers and fabricators.

Personally, I feel the changes were made for the sake of making changes as opposed to improving the quality of the show. GMA, appearance wise, tends to be the busier-looking show as opposed to CBS and NBC, which is why the look is really all over the place.

Bianna Golodryga out at CBS This Morning per the Huffington Post -- also means she's leaving CBS as her contract guaranteed a co-anchor position on the morning show. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/bianna-golodryga-cbs-this-morning_n_5ca32ffae4b04693a946fd90

I always thought four anchors for that show was a mistake and just unnecessary more than anything. Saying that, what I've seen of Bianna has been impressive.
From that article it seems to suggest only Gayle King will be left at CBS This Morning in the long run. Too much change too soon worries me. Norah O'Donnell is great in that position and while moving her to anchor the Evening News might be a promotion, I worry they're jeopardising the morning show. I also fear that the Evening News would remain underperforming and Norah's been moved for little reason.
I don't see why they'd scrap Bianna because four anchors is too much, only to then also move the rest of the team bar-one.

This is what CBS does every few years they blow up their morning show and since Dan Rather the Evening News.

Ever since Charlie Rose's dismissal, CBS This Morning's ratings have fallen and the new hires in Dickerson and Golodryga never reversed the fortunes while the Evening News kept copying CTM with little success and now CBS wants to blow things up again.
