Has that ever happened before: continuing drama episodes aired in wrong order? Only example that springs to mind is Crossroads, not that the viewing majority noticed. Very Happy

I remember in the mid 80s TSW inadvertently repeated an episode of Crossroads from the day before (is that the same example you meant, Rev?). AFAIK only they were affected (and possibly Channel, if this was pre-1986). Not sure what they did to get back on track.

I don't think it was TSW, but rather Channel, who were forced to timeshift it themselves (obtaining special technical dispensation from the IBA to use their U-Matic VCRs to do so).

Didn't TSW move Crossroads to 17:20 (from 18:35) when they took over from Westward ? I don't know whether TSW did their own time-shifting in house, or simply took a 17:20 feed from another ITV company with more extensive VTR facilities ?

It's possible they took 17.20 from htv and stv. I'm sure Tony c once told a story where the wrong audio track was played out?

The scene swapping made no sense. In the first episode you have Bet being attacked by Des and in the second episode yesterday you're actually watching the build-up to that attack.

The 6AM repeats were still the two Xmas day episodes- just in the right order. God knows if we're actually going to get the 23rd December episode.

That sounds likely. Southern TV were also a 17:20 station, though TVS moved it to 18:35
when they took over I think, so they wouldn't have been involved,

It's a shame these can't go on the ITV Hub.

I remember hearing about an incorrect episode of A country practice being broadcast on YTV. As it was a feed from another region who were further ahead I guess it didn't count as technically it wasn't YTV who played it. I know A country practice varied lots across the region's. Central were showing ancient episodes in 1991/1992 and we're years behind HTV. But as they showed it 5 days a week by 1997 they caught up and actually overtook HTV. Prisoner and Sons and Daughters were similar. At different stages across the region's. I think WestCountry showed the wrong episode of Prisoner. They were in the 500s and played episode 685 I think it was. Very close to the end but over a year ahead for Westcountry. Whether this was another regions feed or they simply played the wrong episode I'm not sure. I wonder if we will get the missing episode on itv3 this afternoon!

Has anyone asked the duty office why this happened?

Looks like they're continuing in order completely missing the episode dated 23rd December 1991.

Which means that the dates on the Virgin EPG for both Corrie AND Emmerdale are now one episode out.

I read a newspaper article that stated “the switchboard at TSW was jammed” or words to that effect when the wrong episode of Crossroads went out - and I can’t see viewers in the Channel Islands ringing TSW - so perhaps this was a different occasion. I can see how Channel might have made an error, if they hadn’t wiped the previous day’s recording - perhaps they recorded two episodes on a tape before wiping/reusing it.

The issue with Prisoner on Westcountry was that the episode numbers were transposed on a tape or on paperwork - 658 instead of 568, or similar.

You can understand why they skipped over the 23rd December episode, after messing up with the episodes yesterday they presumably didn't want to complicate things and confuse viewers more by showing the 23rd December episode today and showing a further episode out of order. Easier just to continue from the 27th. It is annoying to have lost that episode though, especially as it's the one where the Platts actually move into number 8.
