The common continuity is clearly designed for when BBC Scotland programming replaces BBC TWO between 1200-1900.

How does this compare to the expectations?

I like it. It looks very modern and similar to that of DR's TV Avisen and NRK's Dagsreyven

BBC News should start taking notes.

And how will it compare to tonight's and tomorrow's figures...

They didn’t state specifically what their expectations were for launch night, but in a recent report on Reporting Scotland, they said they’d be happy with around 5% share in the first six months. 13% for night one is pretty good. The key to keeping the volume will be some genuine must watch shows and a few audience grabbers. The prospect of Friday night football seems to have pleased a lot of people, so that should help.

Will be interesting to see what the figures are for the 12pm-7pm BBC 2 simulcast, given that BBC 2 is available in a much more prominent EPG position.

Yes, that'll really bring down the overall share. 5% does seem somewhat ambitious.

I do think the issue here is quantity versus quality. The trouble with a channel is they need the flagship content but also need plenty to fill the hours. The Nine though is a clever way of having flagship content in the 9pm slot where they can't compete with BBC1/ITV on the scripted content front every night.

There's an interview with the controller in Broadcast this week where he says that's exactly why they put it where it is - 9pm is such a competitive slot that they thought they should offer a complete alternative.

I can see their logic.

Easier to catch a casual audience too as 9pm viewing differs from night to night whilst 6-9pm,and 10pm too, sees the audience pretty much set in their ways.
