MétéoMédia, Canada (French), 2017; interesting that many news anchors in Quebec emulate Parisian French pronunciations, while meteorologists tend to use a purely Quebecois accent -- this is similar to the situation in German-speaking Switzerland.

Probably more down to the location of the channels. Meteo Media comes from the Weather Network's studios in Oakville, Ontario. The local French Canadian accent in that region is heavily influenced by North American English. Most news programmes in the French language come from Quebec itself.

I don't know about that. Sandra Sirois, the meteorologist in that clip, is from Montreal, and that certainly sounds like a typically Quebecois accent. In any case, I doubt that most of their French on-air staff would be natives of Ontario just because the channel happens to be based there. (After all, even when CNN was heavily centralized in Atlanta, its on-air employees weren't Georgians or even Southerners for the most part.)

An interesting way of doing the weather from Italy's RAI Due, 1979:

I have to say, having a pretty woman draw on the weather symbols whilst a man voices over the forecast strikes me as a very Italian approach to presenting the weather. And I do love that backing music! Very seventies.

Of course, the other interesting thing about the weather forecasts on RAI is that for many years, they were (and in fact, still are) presented by Air Force officers in uniform. Here's a forecast from last year (note the use of a touch screen, rather than chroma key or a videowall):

Until about 10 years ago the UK Met Office was part of the RAF. In the days when TV forecasting was just one part of a wider role people like David Braine was also an RAF Officer providing forecasts for military operations.

During the of the finale of the Masters Golf Championship that takes place in Augusta, Georgia, the Atlanta CBS affiliate (the channel that was airing the match) had to interupt the match because there were tornado warnings issued for Gwinnett County (the most populous county in Georgia) to warn viewers. The storms were part of a line of storms that had been dropping tornadoes for 2 days previously and caused loads of damage and killed several people. In fact the Masters adjusted things to take into account the storms that were due to arrive.

WGCL (CBS 46)-Atlanta double boxed their coverage along side the golf. Apparently this move prompted some viewers to issue death threat and complaints to the meteorologists on air. Well the video below shows they are undeterred by the reaction of some of the audience. Some people fail to realize they are mandated by the FCC to provide a public service in the interest of public safety.

That is actually sickening. For some people to prioritize a sporting event, even a major one like The Masters, over a vitally important public safety warning, that the station is required to do, it's not a choice, they have to do it, and for those people to issue death threats to the people at the station, is frankly unacceptable and unwarranted. Those people who threatened the safety of the staff there at CBS 46, should unreservedly apologise, disconnect their TVs, and never leave their homes ever again, because they have permanently disqualified themselves from any kind of societal interaction.

And the thing is they were actually double boxing to please the sports viewer. If I was running the station at the time I would have put the program in the little box or preempt it totally and shift it to the .2. However CBS is picky when it comes to moving programming from the main channel even a marquee event such as The Masters, they’d probably be OK preempting it all together.
