Some of my very limited recordings from today have repeats of the 2017 set in there, so presumably they've just added the 'ex-STV2' ones to what they had already.

I think they're going to have to re-use an awful lot more than that one bit of ident music and a few festive idents from STV2 to recoup some of those losses the second channel made.
On the topic of idents, here's a curious one from 1982.
We see the STV Presentation slide, with the then current STV logo. After the adverts, which includes one for the town of Southport on Merseyside, which you all MUST visit (I have and recommend it!), we get the Scottish News slide, with Tony Currie presenting. But look at the STV logo on that slide. It's made of two lines, not one solid line. And the weather slide is the same. It does partly remind me of the then BBC2 logo, which was =2=. The STV logo is =STV=.
Was there a reason for this?

I have been enjoying "Jim" ca this evening especially for the fact he been using alot of those newer 2016 idents, which don't often get peak time airings.
Would it be his job to actually pick the idents that’s aired?

Yes, I remember one of the other CA uploaded a video and said how in between the main show of the evening peak, there would get things ready for the pre-recorded CA during the daytime.
STV have begun a new five year partnership deal with Sky. This deal will launch all 4 regional variants of STV in HD in the first half of 2019. It will allow all Sky customers in Scotland access on demand programmes from STV Player on their Sky boxes for the first time.
