It looks like Wesley is continuing as late bulletin presenter this week also. Absolutely superb choreographed and polished bulletin closes. More please!
I just wish BBC (West) Midlands Today would ditch their awful artificial set

Why? Surely a plain flat wall behind the presenter would look worse? The GCI office backdrop adds a much-needed sense of depth/space to a poxy sized studio.
A different CGI office, more akin to what Wales Today currently has, might be nicer though?

As can be seen in this thread their studio is tiny - a former meeting room...
Midlands Today? That was a purpose built studio wasn't it? Albeit tiny at the end of the newsroom.
Originally the space was a meeting room (in the 2001 plans), later adapted to house the studio. A plan was shared on the Pebble Mill facebook showing the original space, very BBC LDN inspired (it was 2000/2001!)

There is nothing that you would call a 'purpose built studio' at the Mailbox, at least not for TV.
So where did they plan on presenting Midlands Today from please? The space overlooking the canal?
I believe so.
Presumably they realised there'd be issues with things like the reflection of cameras/autocue being visible in the windows during hours of darkness, hence the change of plan?
As the apology-for-a-"studio" they've ended up with was originally meant to be a meeting room, I wonder whether they have sufficient meeting room(s) elsewhere at The Mailbox?

Off topic but the LDN studio wasn't intended to be their full time studio either. Originally it was for short bulletins only. The main programme was supposed to come from a training studio in the building behind. However they decided that not only was it unfeasible but also they liked how the bulletin space looked.
The original studio set up had some of the news room desks encroaching onto it
