Some are nicer than the others, for some reason I can't help imagining that they use cheap templates for their most recent intros. The ones at 2:57 and 4:06 look very pleasant to me; and somehow I wished they kept that recognizable G-E-G-B-A melody (you can definitely make a lot of things out of it).

Can never take to Canadian news. Don’t know why.

I wonder how long it'll be before they go back to one anchor? It does seem to be very well executed, IMO, and props to the CBC for trying something different.
EDIT: I didn't want to make a separate post for this, so I've edited this post and put it here:
From the VRT in Belgium, here's the 6pm edition of Het Journaal from 2002 (bulletin starts at 0:50):
I never quite understood why the VRT had that ten-minute bulletin at 6pm, when there was a 45-minute newscast on the same channel just an hour later. I think someone there must have realised this, because they axed the 6pm news earlier this year in favour of a 2 minute update, which (slightly truncated) you can see below:
This is the current CBC The National opener (as the compilation showed the old look):

I think it’s incredibly pretentious, but as you say, as least it’s something different.

The header on that page shows how they could quite easily evolve it by smashing the shapes together around a simplified text CTV, but still having them as part of the packaging and feature in the animated version of the logo.
I know. Ive always strongly disliked the CTV logo. Its not great. Well good news. THEY HAVE CHANGED IT! To this....
I was excited when i saw the link a few months ago and it turned out to be this. Ugh what a let down.
Underconsideration did a nice review of it.

Recently a lot of companies have been changing from bad but distinctive and quirky logos, to average but boring and generic logos. I'd rather they keep the bad but distinctive logo myself…
That CTV logo isn’t looking any less horrendous.
