And we thought back in the 00s that Look Levy was taking the p***...

Would everyone here then have preferred they'd used a version of a six year old set and ten year old graphics?

Do we know for certain that this isn't part of a wholescale BBC News rebrand? Obviously there are going to be changes when Reith replaces Helvetica. Maybe there'll be more than just a typeface change.

It looks to have more in common with Politics Live than it does with the rest of BBC News, so there may be something in that. I’d guess what we end up with when News (finally) adopts Reith will be somewhere inbetween what it is now and what the Scotland pictures look like.

Would be nice wouldn't it. Newsnight is getting a new look in the New Year so perhaps, but suspect it is just BBC Scotland going it alone.

I think what globaltraffic24's post shows is that broadcasters quite like the BBC look and keep on commissioning Jago Design to do more of the same.

I quite like what they've come up with for this, though the slab version of Reith does make the logo look a bit Guardian-ish.

Can only see Scotland being worse off in the long run once they axe the channel but remain stuck with network BBC2.

Don't imagine the axe will fall, whatever the ratings. The political establishment, which the BBC is the very embodiment of, thinks Scots and Welsh cultures are brave and beautiful, as much as they think anything defined as British or English is nasty and racist. Hence the rollout of this new channel, and the axing of music-heavy Radio 3 in favour of largely-speech Radio Wales on a number of FM stereo transmitters lately.

Stupid Q: why are there not using the existing staff?
