Is that the main sports studio?

I thought Studio 5 was the home of RTE Sport?

When studio 3 was been revamped back in 2009, the news team moved out of the studio around December 19th 2008 until early February 2009. The Christmas period would require less utilisation of the main studio. Studio 5 would also have less Sport output from this studio allowing the news studio decamp when studio 3 is under construction. I would suspect this is likely going to be the case again. November will be the last full month of studio 3 with the current look.

Are you giving us a date then if that means they will be moving out soon.

If one is to go by the last studio revamp they should be out of studio 3 by mid December!

How about the Week in Politics & News2Day. How are they going to be broadcast when Studio 3 is out of action?

TWIP will be off air for much of that period as the Dáil will be on Christmas Break. Similarly News2day won’t be back on air until mid January. For those few weeks will prob come from a CSO studio/ single camera headed broadcast from the actual newsroom.

I have just heard back from RTE regarding the new look to their news output from January. Here is what they said:

"RTÉ is currently undertaking a major renovation of our News studio (Studio 3). TV News bulletins and related programming will be moving to other studios from mid December to allow for the work to take place. The new studio is due to be unveiled to viewers in late January. We will be announcing further details closer to the time. We hope you and others on the forums continue to keeping watching us over the period."

Will Goodbody was on the Six-One earlier with the new role as Business Editor of RTÉ News. His official twitter handle says that he is now a former Science & Technology Correspondent. His Linkedin profile is also now updated with the role of Business Editor.

The role of Science & Technology Correspondent of going to another news journalist is now underway.

Martina Fitzgerald's time as RTÉ News Political Correspondent is over. She is being replaced by Paul Cunningham.

Quite a bit of work to be done in studio 3 to accommodate the changes. So if it's a mid-January launch, I'd be expecting them to decamp to temporary surroundings soon. Any confirmed news on the relaunch yet?
