"Too political".

A bit of context might be good here. The Iceland ad has been banned by Clearcast because it is deemed too political to run in a standard ad slot. In fact it's a rebadged ad that was originally made for Greenpeace.
So Iceland is instead running a series of shorter ads with the message that it is removing palm oil from its own brand foods.
I suspect, due to the headlines it has generated, neither Iceland or Greenpeace are altogether bothered.

"Too political".
What constitutes political though? Is an ad for a hybrid or electric car political, because they generally say to help save the world in them.

Any more political than a advert asking for money to donate to a country that doesn't have fresh running water, because the government there wont help?

Parts of this are filmed in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. The wide shot of the choir and Christmas tree/market is all reall, apart from the branch of Boots in the background. That is the exterior of Hitchin's Boot branch, but it's not actually located as it appears in the shot. It's further down.
In reality, there's a branch of Waterstones and a Pitcher & Piano there.

Are we going to have the Halifax inserting the fat Welsh bloke into a classic Christmas film after they've already butchered Ghostbusters and The Wizard Of Oz?

They should try and get Howard to do one of the ads.

Strictly speaking, Clearcast haven't banned it, because they don't have the power to ban ads - they've just expressed their opinion that it's likely to be in breach of the advertising code. If Iceland could persuade a broadcaster to run it, then they'd probably get a slap on the wrist from the ASA, and told not to run it again. (The Ryanair school of advertising, there)
