BBC Northern Ireland regain highlights for all Northern Ireland matches both home and away in the Nations League and Euro 2020 qualifiers beginning with Saturdays match with Bosnia at Windsor Park. BBC NI had all highlights of Home matches between 2008-2014 after losing the live rights to Sky Sports. They last covered NI matches at Windsor Park for TV covering all their friendlies in the run up to Euro 2016.

One can hope that come the start of qualification for 2020 that will be history and be replaced.
From the UEFA Nations League preview show, I’m not hopeful that will be the case. Certainly at the moment the same branding that’s been in place since 2014 is on the UEFA website. But we can dream (which I guess is all Ireland fans will be doing after that performance tonight - congratulations Wales).
Seems to feel like it these days!

I have to say, the odd Champions League-esq anthem besides, the presentation I have seen looks very good. This is the secondary competition, but makes the main Europeans Qualifiers graphics look dull and ordinary.

Is it just me or do Bet365 sponsor everything?

I believe ITV will be covering England, Wales & NI in their highlights programme (on Saturday and Tuesday), but I'm not sure if they'll be paying much attention to Scotland.

I'd be amazed if this lasts more than one cycle. Oddity with the highlights to considering the rights are centralised as the BBC have Wales, Scotland and NI highlights and ITV have England highlights.

Apparently ITV can show highlights of matches played on the night of their highlights show, but no others - so on Tuesday they'll have Northern Ireland and Ireland (even though they're all friendlies, friendlies played on Nations League days count as part of the contract) but seemingly not Scotland and Wales.
Seems a bizarre step to create this league ostensibly to bring all this together, and then not offer a catch-all highlights show with everything, as we had during the last few qualifiying campaigns, and let all the home nations sort out their own highlights.

To be fair, that’s more an ESPN thing specifically, rather than a US thing generally - but yeah, it’s quite odd looking.
Incidentally, while I really like the Nations League graphics (and I divorce my liking for the presentation from the competition itself, which I still think is a bizzare format), from a branding point of view one of the oddest things about this is that the “reduced” UEFA logo (the bit that features the top part of the full logo, with UEFA between two semicircles), as seen on the Champions League, Europa League, even the European Qualifiers (at the start of the titles only in that case), is nowhere to be seen here. The titles do say “UEFA presents” as normal, but in the Nations League font.

Must say the Nations League graphics are very nice in action, though not a fan of the US style tournament name above the scorebar, though guess they want to push the new brand.

Yes, any team within the Nations League not due to play on any particular matchday can arrange a replacement Friendly which is considered to be a fixture within the collective broadcast deal for rights purposes. The fixtures arranged ALSO do not necessarily need to be between two UEFA nations, the first of these hybrid friendlies being the Dutch match yesterday vs Peru (CONMEBOL)

Friendlies that take place during Nations League periods are sold as part of the Nations League contract.
Are the friendly matches now sold in the same deal as UEFA Nations League? All the ones I've seen this week seem to have the same graphics which are similar to the Nations League ones.

Re: Channel 4 recent sports rights deals
I am delighted with hearing that they secured further highlights coverage of the F1 including full live access to the British GP. Their coverage is second to none when covering this sport. It is a great relief that I wasn't going to prefer them on Pick if it was in SD. I also don't have Sky TV either but hearing lots of online posts to say that Sky's coverage has not been the best or biased is a great indication to Channel 4 that they thoroughly deserve to have this part of this new contract given to them from next season.
I am also very happy to hear that they took rights from Sky to show Ireland's Autumn Internationals in November. I will watch them on RTÉ2 regardless of who has these games. The only difference with RTÉ's coverage this year is that it will be Hugh Cahill doing the match commentary. I would like to ask a question though; I know Channel 4's new deal for these Ireland games includes the Warm up games for next year's RWC. Does RTÉ also have live rights access to show all of Ireland's World Cup Warm Up games for 2019?

Just the home ones v Wales and Italy so far (and incidentally, that’s all the C4 deal covers also). The one against England in Twickenham will almost certainly be on Sky Sports. The away fixture against Wales, who knows? Their deal with the BBC is up after November.
Just to remind, in 2015 there was an away game v Wales that only BBC Wales covered. No officially available broadcaster in Ireland broadcast that game, though obviously could be seen on free to air satellite.
