Hello, new to the forum! I have a mixed opinion on this new schedule. A few remarks:

- I'm glad that they are revamping business programming as the 'CNN Money' brand seemed relatively superfluous - surely every news story could have a money angle(?), the consolidation of financial and tech resources into 'CNN Business' makes sense. However, how can you call an international business programme which airs after the close of Asia-Pacific markets and in the final hours of European trading (when the majority of European professionals are at work), 'First Move'? It seems to totally ignore the whole world outside of the NY area. If it's a programme for traders, CNBC starts US programming at 5a and Bloomberg now has Surveillance from 4a ET? We cannot entirely judge the format or presentation yet, but I doubt it will be anything captivating - since Chatterley has left Bloomberg, her slot seems to be covered by Lisa Abramowicz and Julie Hyman there who are just as good, if not better, cannot fault them - so I struggle to see the hype CNN is making out. Maggie Lake was formidable, and actually dealt very well with international stores which broke during her show. We'll have to wait and see I suppose...

- Moving some of the programming earlier is an odd move, meaning CNN Today is now at 5am HKT, which is bizarre for an Asia-Pacific morning show and unless there are format changes it doesn't work as a late European hour of world news. Then again cutting Hong Kong almost entirely and having 15 minute World Sports after 'hard news' hours like IDesk is really bizarre so I'm not entirely surprised.

- Newsroom LA was awful for the reasons given by fellow posters, so its cancellation is good news. Sesay is right that there is overwhelming Trump coverage by CNN right now, but this seems like it will not change so it will seep into CNN International I'm afraid. However, I have to say that when I'm in the UK Brexit coverage is daily, yet it hasn't really seeped into BBC World News or London editions of other international channels - so I would question why CNNI has so much simulcasting and 'State of America'. I understand expats and US travellers are a key demographic but surely they don't tune in to CNNI for endless debates and speculation over Trump gaffes - they probably get enough of that when back in the US or on social media. My work offices across Europe used to have CNNI on but now they have Euronews in their place - it might be financially driven but I remember seeing a panel of heads rampaging over Sarah Sanders EVERY DAY FOR A WEEK during the New Day simulcast.

- I would hope that there are more CNN Newsroom editions dotted throughout the day. They seem to be the only programmes of 30 mins straight-up news delivered by the core team of news presenters. Especially at weekends, we now get Ana Cabrera. I remember her simulcast came up straight after the royal wedding coverage and she couldn't understand her guest's English regional accent - her other guest actually relayed the discussion for her and at the end she said "thanks for translating it all for us". It really is deplorable, I do not watch CNNI on weekends. And to think that slot is followed by the versatile Zain Asher doing 3- 5 hours of headlines and no actual bulletins.

Very slick switching between New Day and the CNNi version of Newsroom in the linked clip. The show title co-ordination and similar lower-thirds really make the switch invisible for anyone watching.

A far cry compared to a few years ago when CNNi ran a letterboxed version of CNN U.S. with mismatching graphics.

Welcome to the forum.

Agreed on most of that. The channel seemed to stop focusing on European and Asian markets so much when Nina Dos Santos's show was axed.

CNN Today is one of the better slots. I'm not sure it's been Asia-focussed for a while now but it is rolling news and Michael and Amara are great whether solo or presenting together and I'd have it in full than the diet of repeats and sports bulletins we had til recently

There are too many sports bulletins. I like sport and even I feel there are too many - especially as they seem to struggle for content at times so there's often a fair bit of filler from shows like The Circuit/Open Court to pad out the bulletin. It'd make more sense for them to be a few minutes at the end of IDesk/NewsStream rather than a separate 15 minute bulletin.

The annoying thing with CNNI is that you can see there's a good channel there. Most of the international anchors are pretty good, the international reporters are mostly top class (Clarissa Ward, Ivan Watson and Will Ripley all spring to mind) and the channel has a great look and some strong shows among the weaker ones.
The new schedule does feel like an improvement.

It's not that there are too many sports bulletins, we've had more sports bulletins in the past, it's the mini version of World Sport, which is wrong. It just makes the whole thing unbalanced. It would be better if the non 30 minute versions were not 15 minutes but more like it used to be back along, around 3 minutes or so. 2 full length editions per day is enough, and focus those around the end of the sports day in Europe and the end of the sports day in America (West Coast). Those are the right times for it. Anything more is just overkill.

I was never sold on LA as a hub for CNNI. I'm not even sure this edition of Newsroom is simulcast on CNNUSA any more – I think they originally put it on the schedule as a late night show for the West Coast.

Hopefully this means one (or both) of two things: John Vause reunited with Rosemary Church (great duo), or more hours from London in the morning!

I always thought that a live late news program from the west coast would be a great idea for CNN Domestic. But it was executed poorly by having CNNI produce it, producing it like it's a CNN Domestic show, and then not having CNN Domestic even air it most of the time. I don't think CNN Domestic has run it in any portion for the better part of a year or longer.

Let's hope the production of those hours goes back to Atlanta. CNNI Atlanta can always put something decent together at any time of day. I half wondered if the reason they did away with the morning newsblock from London was because of the hours. The people who work on the Atlanta overnight hours probably just have a really late night whereas the people who got CNN Today to air at 5am London time truly had day-night reversal. That's truly a miserable quality of life situation, and one I have been through before. It's not fun.

CNNi taking extended domestic coverage this evening. With big US news like this I think it's right to do that, doesn't make sense to duplicate coverage.

Indeed, it's one of those big news moments where CNN should be mentioning Trump.

It's also the kind of breaking news that Wolf Blitzer does well, much better than breaking news involving tragedy.

I caught some of the coverage in the Jake Tapper hour and was impressed, slightly more optimistic to have that hour simulcast now. The coverage was strong, but the 'panel of heads' thing can get quite annoying - almost every CNNI show has a panel of regular guests now! Bloomberg's coverage was very quick, very reactive and I was glad they pre-empted their Bllomberg Technology hour with extended coverage.

Tapper was fortunate to have all the news break in his programme. On Hala Gorani Tonight they have just run through CNN broke it.

CNNI simulcast US last night right through at least to Cuomo Prime Time.

The simulcast went all the way until the end of CNN Tonight with Don Lemon at Midnight ET.

I thought it might have.

Surprised they aren't simulcasting The Lead again tonight given the episode of Amanpour is a 'best of' i.e. a repeat.
