I watched both episodes on the UKTV Player earlier.
Apologies. They disappeared and have now reappeared. Not sure what’s happening. Someone has posted on the “Official” EastEnders Repeats on Drama Channel Facebook group that an announcement was made stating they aren’t going to be on UKTV Play, but I assume his information is incorrect (and not for the first time!)
I see they censored the topless calendar in the Vic:
You'd struggle to attract someone of that calibre without adding an extra element, so it looks like being in charge of all serial/soap on BBC1 is what was needed, even if it is essentially still running EastEnders.

It might partly be so that a higher salary compared to John Yorke can be paid for not only out of EastEnders annual budget but also out of Casualty and Holby City budgets.
No, just recording them to watch later on days I'm not able to watch them live, then wiping them.
I don't know why the timer on the satellite box is so temperamental, it's quite a cheap FTA box I guess. Works fine for watching TV and moving the motorised dish, but the timer function's clearly dodgy.
There is a timer and recorder with the USB slot on my bedroom TV and that works, and I had a second memory stick plugged in there as a backup today (the satellite recording failed again today, so I'm glad I did), the issue there though is that recordings made on that only play back on that TV (probably an anti-piracy measure I imagine), whereas the ones from the satellite box work anywhere and I prefer to watch them on the big TV in the living room, but it looks like that's the option I'll probably have to take to know it will reliably record when I'm away.
I've noticed we haven't seen any location work away from the outside set yet either, I wonder when the first of those was? Admittedly it seems to be becoming increasingly rare for the show to leave it these days as well (though it is at least a lot bigger now than it was then).

We’re six episodes in - and there really hasn’t been any need for location work, has there? One thing I did notice was a strange white tunnel type structure beside Dr Legg’s Surgery. Something which is not there now

it seems it takes three senior management positions ( jostling to be associated with the appointment), no wonder it takes forever to get a decision at the BBC
