It's as it was broadcast- it was like that on the Granada Plus broadcast, and on the DVD. It has clearly been zoomed into though, using 1980s video technology which is why it looks a bit iffy.

Not really surprised that ITV3 cut the scene today, I think Granada Plus kept it in when they aired it in 2002?

Was that the "stupid b*tch" comment that you're referencing? I also note the end scene as the credits ran was an extreme close up of Rita's face which looked hastily edited. Was this as broadcast or was this what was cut?

Yes. Alan said "come back you stupid b*tch" but on the ITV3 version it was edited to just "come back". The close up of Rita, as far as I know this was in the original version.

This episode has been released 4 times on Video or DVD apparently - the 1990 video collection to celebrate 30 years of Corrie, the best of the 80s box set, the 50th anniversary box set and a free DVD in The Sun newspaper. Possibly the most a single episode of Corrie has been released. Definitely one of the most iconic moments in Corrie history.

The clip of Alan being hit by the tram is probably the one that's been shown the most too. Surely the most iconic moment in Corrie history?

Its hard to say which moment in Corrie history is the most iconic. Id say Hilda's wish me luck as you wave me goodbye and the Ken/Deirdre/Mike confrontation of 1983 are right up there, as well as 1977 'Woman Stanley Woman' and 1984 Hilda after Stan's death.

So many great moments, most of which are pre 2000. I doubt very much of more recent Corrie will be as well remembered in years to come.

Of course there were only 3-4 channels and Corrie routinely got about 14 million so its no surprise old clips are more remembered as more people watched them.

Tram crash, surely?

Scene edited. No b***h.

Or TAAAAAAAART ?

Best tart ever served up on CS was surely that piece of "rotten cowing tart" Tracy served to Deirdre back in 1993 - it's at 55 seconds here.

Well, that’ll no doubt be cut, due to Tracy’s “pack of bloody lies” comment! Who seriously considers “bloody” a worse word than “bast**d” (especially when the latter is being used as an insult)?

By the way, I’m confused as the reason why Bet had to sleep in Rita’s room. I assume she and Alec stayed in the hotel overnight after they found Rita (Rita commented that they had “signed in as Mr and Mrs Gilroy”). When Alec went back the next day, I can only assume Bet wasn’t planning on staying overnight again, as she didn’t appear to have a room when she got back from hospital the following morning and didn’t ask to collect her clothes etc. Had she planned on getting the last train back the night before or something?

Bet's phone calls to Roy certainly suggested that she was intending to stay until Rita was in some helping hands and then after that it was until she turned up again.

Why on earth did Alec thinking telling Alan the exact place and hotel Rita was in would be a good idea??

And I'm quite bemused why the nurse at the hospital wanted a full blown explanation as to why Bet was there and arguing she was wasting their time in the corridor in full view of all the waiting patients, including Rita. It would certainly seem more feasible for Bet to explain what's going on in the doctors room in confidence with Rita then running away as a nurse approaches her.

I assume given how tired Bet was, it was done as a favour for her to nap in Rita's room to save Alec 'worrying about the bill' as he'd already given the Gilroy's room to someone else.
