International News Presentation: Past and Present

That first intro is very... interesting, shall we say? Reminds me a little of the intro used by the VRT (or the BRT, as it was known back then) in the early 90s (intro starts at 0:10):

That BRT intro is the quintessence of postmodernism!

It is, and I think that that's why I love it so much; it's so different to anything you'd see on a modern newscast, especially in the English-speaking world. I do think that the BRT/VRT have had some excellent intros over the years, with some being more 'out there' than others, especially the ones from 1977 and 1983 (1:20 and 1:30 in the video, respectively). My personal favourites are the 1994 intro (2:43), 2002 (3:54) and 2008 (love everything about that design, and that music? Utterly fantastic).

Lee Lin Chin has presented her final SBS World News bulletin after 30 years with the broadcaster.



I'm sure I won't be the only one who will miss her style.

MBC News Today had also got new intro from July 30:

Isn't that a return to the old theme of many years?

The old theme actually returned in December 2017 after MBC's news programming returned from months-long industrial action affecting the network.
