The elusive sofa has made a couple of appearences so far. Then again, the way the programme is these days, the sofa is not so necassary.

No newsreader this morning, just Kate and Charlotte. After the top story, Charlotte has done the rest of the news. Unusually, Charlotte is named first in the voiceover and is sat camera left, despite the fact that Kate is technically the senior presenter.

Susanna and Piers are back on September 18th, so a longer summer holiday in comparison to the last few years. It does seem a little strange to let the main presenters have a longer holiday when the program is at a high point in the ratings.

September 18th is a Tuesday, so that seems unlikely...

The New ITV Daytime season starts Mon 3rd September... Piers said he's off for 6.5 weeks.

Piers said on yesterday’s show that him and Susanna would return on the 18th, hence my comment.

Hasn’t Piers also said he’s taking 6.5 weeks off? That would be the 3rd September. So I’m not sure if saying the 18th was a mistake, as pointed out that’s a Tuesday (they’ll return together on a Monday). I’m assuming they’ll be back on Monday 3rd September.

Well he has worked eight weekdays in a row.

Piers Morgan now seems to have the similar holiday arrangement which Johnny Carson had from NBC Tonight Show from 1980, when he hammered at a brilliant deal for himself - only work three days a week, with 15 weeks holiday in the year.

Difference being, Johnny Carson had Joan Rivers, we have Ben Shephard.
Spencer, lemonlemormom and Hatton Cross gave kudos

Eamonn Holmes in his final years on GMTV had 3 months off for the Summer, a 3 day week and 500k a year.

Why did they have all these guest presenters last summer? Charlotte and Kate on again and they're very good in my opinion

500k that’s ridiculous, some of us don’t get a tenth of that in two years Sad
