How is that possible? Seems unusual. I have read it, but very odd.
Because FOM trademarked those words in that order, plus the old flying F1 logo, to protect the rights to the name and logo of that code of the sport.
In the same way McDonald's have trademarked the name 'McDonalds' the golden arches M logo, names of burgers on the menu, and will even go after independently owned burger shops with similar sounding names (Macdonals, for example)
Try starting a company to do with cars and call it 'Formula1' or 'F1' and see how long it is before you get a strongly worded legal letter forcing you to change it from the lawyers acting on behalf of Liberty Media.
You do see occasional examples of people trying it on. But they don't last long.
My favorite was the 'F1 car repair centre' workshop in Stechford just outside Birmingham. Clearly visible from the train hrading towards Birmingham, they even used a dodgy knock-off of the old F1 logo on the sign on the front. Lasted all of 3 months, one day changed the name, since closed down.
My user name might look like Hatton Cross, but it's pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove.
