Sky Living to become Sky Witness

Squatters? Can't Sky ask Twitter to force those Twitter users to rename themselves, freeing up the name?

@skywitness belongs to a chap called David who joined Twitter in 2010, and whose only post since joining is simply "niceness". They'll have a job trying to contact him.

Twitter have been known to give away usernames from dormant accounts if someone requests to have it.

What do you reckon would happen if someone steals the @SkyWitnessHD?

Well if Twitter don’t give Sky the handle they want, they may go for Sky_Witness or offer the person who owns SkyWitnessHD something as an incentive to get it from them.

If they have a name in mind they surely would have things like social media usernames sorted before announcing the names to stop things like this happening?

I mean if someone actually wanted a certain @ for a genuine reason and not to spite the company and Twitter took it away from them, you'd have to feel sorry for them.

Surprised they've never had "Skywitness News" branding over the years.

It's sad to see the Living name go after so long. They'd had some great idents over the years. I look forward to seeing some nice new shiny idents for Sky Witness.

Sky have either gone for @SkyWitnessHD or @WitnessHD. Both have been taken but nothing confirms either, yet.
