Aren't these films shown across Local TV in the public domain? Do they have to pay anything to show them / acquire them ?
I assumed that was a Talking Pictures simulcast?
Talking Pictures TV parted ways with That's TV at the beginning of the year. As far as I am aware, it's just NVTV and Latest TV Brighton that now simulcast Talking Pictures during the day.
So looking at the That's TV Manchester schedule, it's basically an archive film channel 9am - 6pm and the commitment part of the licence kicks in and they show local news from 6pm - 9am. The news is scheduled every hour.
If anyone watches the channel is the same local news hour just repeated over all night? I don't know how they are meeting even the revised commitment for first run local programming. I daresay nobody is bothered.
Made TV basically the same now - a looped hour of repeated content when they're not simulcasting whoever it is they do now. That model would be fine if the hour was of reasonable quality but I could barely manage a minute of news being presented outside in front of a wall
I've just checked into a hotel on Merseyside, flicked through the channels on the telly, and spotted Made in Liverpool: it seems to be showing a day-old news programme.

The problem with this local channel - and I wonder if anyone else feels the same way about theirs - is that the low production values of it don’t even make me want to channel hop over it after the first few times watching. I already know that it’s going to be poor quality so why bother trying again.
Sometimes I’ve recorded the Liverpool news to see if they’ve reported on something happening locally that wasn’t reported on the BBC or Granada, but it usually hasn’t been.
Sheffield Live! managed to squeeze in 24 uses of the F word at 8pm in another classic fail. I must reiterate my surely annual plea of any form of recent video from this station which we’ve heard so little about since it launched and is surely still worse than even That’s TV. Please, any content whatsoever from Sheffield Live would be hugely appreciated.

Sheffield live has a live feed on their website, they also post a lot of stuff to Vimeo.
Sheffield Live's production values are still pretty rough, but these days you've got to say they are the only ones left doing the thing that local TV was supposed to do. Truely 'Local news'.
