Burger Quiz sounds like thrilling viewing.

It only recently returned after being axed by TMC in 2002. Old editions of Burger Quiz have been filler on Comedié+.

It returned on TMC this year, but was originally broadcast (and axed) by Canal+, not TMC.

As for the "retro" trailer for TMC, it doesn't reuse the TMC's branding design from the late eighties (except the logo), it just adapted one of the current style cross-promos. I guess TF1 had no trouble finding the archives for TF1 stocked in the surroundings of Paris, but didn't foresee the TMC case, the archives of which probably still are in Monaco.

And, as far as TF1's DOG is concerned, it only appeared on all programmes (except movies and ads, as usual) starting from the late 00's if I remember correctly.

TMC break bumper 1984.

TMC sign off - 1986.

TMC sign off - 1988.

I think this break bumper is from the Italian version of Tele Monte Carlo (now La 7). I'm not entirely sure, it may have been used on both versions, but the lowercase logo and the rather primative DOGs in the bottom corners are definitely the ones used on the Italian feed at the time.

Some major changes are in store for French public broadcasting. Among other things, France 4 will be shut down and France 3 will greatly increase the amount of regional programming (in cooperation with the regional France Bleu radio stations):

So instead of trying harder, they're just gonna close France•4 à la BBC3 I guess.

Disappointing as always.

(I hope the parliament will have a say in this, though I have low hopes given how it's in line with the government.)

I wonder what the new regional programming on France 3 will look like. This is an example of a non-news program from France 3 Via Stella, France Télévisions's special service for Corsica:

Of course, the mainland regions also get some non-news programming already. Here's an edition of the magazine 9h50 Le Matin for the Center-Loire Valley region:

With more regional programming on France 3, the national sustaining feed used by some providers will have more padding.

Sad news about France 4, but not surprised considering that not all of their output is youth skewed. They've even showed 50 year old Louis de Funes movies in prime time.

I'd like to hope that France 2 will take the mantle for some of the youth skewed output currently being shown on 4.

Since the regional versions are now all on satellite, I wonder if a national feed is still needed.

They're still used by IPTV providers, such as Molotov and Free. It may be the case that they take Paris Île-de-France or invest in separate feeds.
