This scene on the "Alan Bradley killed by a tram" episode on the Network DVD is interesting- looks like there's some tape damage, with audio interference and creases throughout the whole scene. I can't remember if Granada Plus showed it like it, but they probably edited that scene out if their copy was like this too. Wonder how ITV will handle it when they get there?

I think a badly keyed ‘Temporary Fault’ Aston over the scene would be ideal. Wink

Re the new set, will be on screen from 20th April according to someone on Twitter.

And according to the Sun (everyone's favourite rag Razz ), Nigel Havers and Rula Lenska are returning to Coronation Street.

Chesney tonight telling Shona that he’ll go “down the road for a proper cappuccino”

Also notice the way product placement is carefully handled, Co-op bags in the background at Gail’s but obscured for most the scene, so not right in your face throughout, and then when a carrier bag was required as part of the storyline (when David binned his clothes), it was a Freshcos bag that was used.

I bet it will be the same with the shop fronts, you won’t get them in the back of shot throughout a whole scene.

There'll be none of this then:

Though I imagine the co-op probably wouldn't like their bags to be used for someone disgustedly throwing away the clothes he'd been raped in anyway.

IF we get this in the UK then TV is dead...

UK Product Placement rules are a lot more restrictive compared to the US so it's unlikely we've have OTT product placement

It's not allowed to affect the editorial content of the show for a start, so you couldn't have characters having a discussion about how wonderful the product is.

Talking of product placement, just watched an 1990 episode on the Network DVD, and a scene begins with a very prominent close up of a Happy Eater sign. If it wasn't for the fact it preceeded PP by 20-odd years I'd have said, they were paid for it, though I wouldn't be suprised if it was part of the agreement for letting them film there.

Funnily enough Granada themselves bought Happy Eater a few years later, and turned them all into Little Chefs.

And now there aren't many traces left of the Granada and Little Chef brands.

A cliche, but how times change...

There aren't any left as far as I'm aware- the last Little Chefs went earlier this year when the company that bought them's licence to use the name ran out.
