I didn't think it warranted its own thread but apparently Robot Wars just got the chop. Again.
Apparently the axing of Robot Wars is due to the BBC needing to ‘make room’ for new shows on BBC Two.
Terrible news to hear, especially as a fan of the series - but part of me wouldn’t have been surprised considering that Robot Wars’ third series was pitted against The Blue Planet II on a Sunday night at 8pm. Ratings slaughter in a nutshell.
I got put off the reboot when I noticed the need to dramatise the battles with extreme close ups and the likes. Maybe I was too fond of the original but I really missed the cool industrial theme of the Craig Charles era.
The third series was scheduled against Blue Planet II, which may be why you didn’t know about it.
I think it would have fared better had it been scheduled an hour earlier on a Sunday - it would have prevented such a clash with what was an eagerly anticipated show in The Blue Planet II.
I only managed to watch the first episode of Robot Wars’ third series, and I found myself not even watching the rest after The Blue Planet II started airing.
